The New Year

Why do we always wish for it to be a time other than the present?

"Man, I can't wait for..." "I wish it were..."

You just have to wait a while, and it will come. In the meantime, you can focus on other things, good things, fun things.

Nostalgia. "Oh, I wish I were little again..." "I wish I was just starting high school/college..."

It's ok to look back on memories fondly, but don't long for those times. You can't go back to them. Just remember how they were good. And realize... in the future, this, right now, will be the past that you are looking back fondly on.

So enjoy today, and realize that life is good.

I agree.
I've started off every day this week afffirming to myself, "Today will be a good day."
Each day this week HAS been a good day.

But I agree with your post as well. You should see my journal entries from late last year. That's exactly what each one said. "I can't wait until..."
But that was also one of the most unhappy periods of my life.

Living in the present is the best. You just have to accept life as it is and live right now.

This is something I struggle with a lot. In both ways...looking forward and nastalgia.

Thank you for the reminder :)

First of all, I am a big fan of your photos, Justin.

Secondly, I highly admire your "live in the moment" advice. I struggle with that a lot, and it's nice to get some insight about it.

Good post!
